Saturday 7th November – Tri and Run Ballbuster @ Box Hill, Surrey

Report from Huw Illingworth:

Myself and Adam Baird took part in today’s Ballbuster Duathlon at Box Hill in Surrey.

After a late toilet call resulting in missing the start by three minutes, I managed to settle in to my stride on this 8 mile run/24 mile bike/8 mile run race that takes in five laps of Box Hill.

The 8 mile laps all on road include a steep (by Southern standards) two mile climb at the end of each. Despite sunny and bright conditions, frozen feet made the final lap hard work but they slowly de-frosted to help me finish 142nd in 3:30:39.

Adam finished not far behind in 195th – 3:39:35.

The race was won by Wayne Smith in 2:40:41 and there were 380 finishers.

The Ballbuster is repeated in March if any OAC bike owners fancy a trip down South next year…

Thursday 5th November – Otley A.C. Cycle Jerseys

A message from Hugh:

At Tuesday’s Committee, we discussed the growing number of OAC members who are cyclists and the possibility of ordering Otley A.C. cycling jerseys for group rides and events such as Etape du Dales, White Rose and 3 Peaks Cyclocross.

I have looked into getting club jerseys and could obtain jerseys for £33-£37 (depends on numbers) with a minimum order of 15. The purpose of this post is to see whether there is enough interest to order some? If you would like one (or more) please let me know. If there is enough interest I will put an order in.

Possible designs are shown in the attached powerpoint slide. Alternative design ideas welcome.

Jerseys can be long or short sleeved, quarter or full length zipped. If you are into mountain biking we can get freeride jerseys as well.
