Report from Jack & Kath Robertshaw:
It was cold, damp and very misty at Graves Park, Sheffield for the annual Yorkshire Veterans XC Championships.
The course was remarkably free of any real mud, it was soft and very runnable. The men ran four laps of the 2.5km circuit whilst the women and O70 men did two laps. The start was a long downhill section followed by a tricky steep climb through the woods and a couple of long drags around the perimeter of the park. Numbers appeared to be down on last year’s race at York possible due to its southern venue?
In the ladies race, Kath Robertshaw finished in 28.25 and first O65. Jack was first home for the men in 48.50, followed by Phil Robinson in 49.21. Colin Best had a good battle with John Simpson from Wetherby but managed to hold on to fininsh ahead in 49.54. Tom completed the Otley contingent in 52.18.
We had no representatives in the the “youngsters” race 35-49yrs. Was everyone doing Rombalds?
