This popular race had been extended from just over 14 to 16.7 miles this year due to the usual bridge at Water Yeat at the south end of Coniston being damaged during the floods in November and the route therefore extending down to the next crossing at Lowick.
However 1,291 finishers enjoyed this extended undulating race which was won by John Herbert (Werrington Joggers) in 1.33.48 (all chip times).
Following his endeavours over the trails at the Lightwater Valley 10k last Sunday, OAC’s Julian Mawson returned to his preferred terrain of asphalt this week to finish second in 1.38.31.
Mick Jeffrey (pictured) was also tempted by this longer and scenic race and was pleased to finish 145th in 2.03.11.
