A report from Huw Illingworth:
I travelled down to visit some family in Derbyshire and decided to try out their local race, the Tideswell Fell Race, which is a nice low key fell event mostly trail but taking in a short sharp ascent and descent of one of the area’s steep valleys.
Over the 4.4 miles/850ft distance, I found myself in the leading group for the first ten minutes or so (a slightly surreal experience I have to say), before the race started to spread out.
I managed to claw a few places back over the final mile to finish sixth somewhere around the 30 minute mark.
There were 73 runners plus many marshalls and enthusiastic helpers on a very humid but pleasant summer evening. A race I may well return to next year.
