Sunday 4th September – Stainland 7 Miles

Report from OAC’s Tom Potter:

Today Liam Dunne fifth (43:58), Tom Midgley ninth (45:05) & I 73rd (58:23), completed the rather hilly Stainland 7 miles, near to Halifax.

The first mile of the course is extremely quick and lures one into a false sense of ease, just a shame the remaining six miles of the road race are rather hilly.

After the race Liam commented that he felt he was going to break the four minute mile in the first mile due to the extreme downhill start.

As always this was another well organised race by Stainland Lions, offering a jam-packed goody bag to all finishers… Certainly another recommendation for next years race diary! unless you’re looking for a PB!

The race was won by Jonathan Wills (Bristol & West) breaking the course record by over a minute in 39.50 and the first lady was Helen Glover (Keighley & Craven) 26th overall in 48.45.
