A report with a difference from OAC’s Ian Broadbent:
On Monday 10th October, I hosted the British Institue of Facilities Management awards at the Grosvenor Hotel in London. As a commitment to my chosen charity I decided to journey there as follows:
Friday 7th October: Harrogate – Nottingham (95 miles cycle)
Saturday 8th October: Nottingham – Leighton Buzzard (95 miles cycle)
Sunday 9th October: Leighton Buzzard – Watford (23 mile run)
Monday 10th October: The last part of the challenge involved a 21 mile walk in to London which was a bit grim in parts and we eventually made the Grosvenor Hotel at 1.20pm – just one hairy part when an ex-convict started walking with us and asked if I could help turn his life round!
So all in all 224 miles, 17,500 calories burned off and so much money raised (just short of £15,000 so far), a big success.
