Saturday 31st December – Auld Lang Syne Fell Race


The Auld Lang Syne Fell Race (6 miles / 900′) with details and results from woodentops.

The race was won by Alistair Brownlee (Bingley Harriers) in 40.28 – just eleven seconds ahead of brother Jonathan Brownlee (Bingley Harriers) in 40.39. The first lady in 35th position was Katie Walshaw (Holmfirth) in 49.46.

For OAC, Peter Kettleborough finished 68th (53.32), Lloyd Best 103rd (55.52), Chris Stacey 126th (57.56) Karen Best 128th (58.06) and Hugh Pearson 133rd (58.25).

Continuing, Andy Webster 198th (63.06), Dave Fox 232nd (65.16), John Dade 256th (67.13), Colin Best 293rd (70.51) and Don Buffham 359th (79.54).

    Conditions were cold, wet, claggy and muddy with a lot of standing water on the trails up to top withens. I tried to keep up with Karen but she was too fast in the closing stages.

    great running Hugh, you all deserved a great big”Black and White” medal, for those performances, in all that rain and mud well done again all the OAC,who took part!

    Not sure that it can be considered great running. I did the same course in 2007 in 50:25 – about 8 minutes faster!

    Hard luck Hugh, but you are nearly 5 years older, they say you lose 1.5 minutes per year as you get older, well done anyway!
