Saturday 2nd June – Wharfedale Half & Full Off-Road Marathons

OAC’s Tom Paget reports:

Laura Taylor and I ran the Half Marathon and Graham Lake ran the Full Marathon (the first “leg” of his Summer Charity Challenge).

The Half Marathon was won for the consecutive year by Quentin Lewis (Baildon) in 85.07 and the first lady was Catherine Farrow (Ilkley) in 26th position overall (106.56).

I finished 31st (108.01) and Laura 162nd (144.53).

The Full Marathon was won by Richard Pattinson (Pudsey & Bramley) in 2.48.41 and the first lady was Kim Threadgall (Edinburgh) in eighth position overall (3.24.02).

Grahamfinished 59th (4.30.30).  and report from Graham:

Well, I completed the Wharfedale Marathon but not without a struggle. Perfect weather, still with overcast skies lead to a good start to the race, but probably went off too fast. Got cramp from around half-way just after the big climb up the monk’s road and was very glad to see the finish line in 4h 30m 30s in 59th place.
Think I under-estimated the task in hand, with not enough long training runs, so a lesson learnt.
