OAC’s Tom Paget reports:
My target of a half marathon a month for 2012 is still very much on and so I found myself travelling down to Shropshire to compete in the Wyre Forest Half Marathon. It was always my intention when I set the challenge at the beginning of the year that I would try and throw in some more varied and interesting events and not all local.
The race was run entirely on forest tracks and paths and after the recent rain, conditions underfoot were extremely difficult (and fun) – knee deep puddles and miles of energy sapping muddy paths winding through beautiful forest. I finished in eighteenth place out of 125 with a time of 99.34.
The race was won by Daniel Brazier (Wolverhampton & Bilston A.C.) in a time of 82.30 and the first lady in 29th place overall was Alison Carr (Unattached) in 104.56.
