Saturday 1st September – Derwentwater Trail Run 10km

Report from OAC’s Joanna Hobson:

I took part in the Derwentwater Trail Run 10km, part of the Lakeland Trails Series.

This was a fabulous course with amazing Lakeland views.

The circuit was along well marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways and took in panoramic views of Lake Derwentwater and the surrounding peaks of the Skiddaw and Blencathra range and the northern lakeland fells.

Definitely my biggest running challenge yet but the rewards of the views (and the Kendal mint cake) made it well worthwhile.

The winner was William Smith (Helm Hill club) in 34:26 and the first female runner was Carla Brown (Cambridge and Coleridge) in fifth position overall with a time of 41:21.

I finished in 123rd position with a time of 56:07.

Results from lakelandtrails.
