Saturday 8th September – World 24-Hour Running Championships in Katowice (Pol)

OAC’s Chris Carver represented Great Britain in the World 24-Hour Running Championships in Katowice, Poland.

The race was won by Mike Morton (Usa) with 277.543km (172 miles) and the first lady was Michaela Dimitriadu (Cze) with 244.232km (133 miles).

Chris had an excellent race in these, the World Championships, finishing 33rd with 231.339km (143 miles) – just short of his pb of 238km.

Chris texts in, “Very tired now after the closing ceremony. Emily Gelder won world bronze and european silver individual medals as did the women’s team. I was third GBR man. I also picked up three injuries on the same side including very bad big toenail at seventeen hours (when I was on target for 245km) and my right foot did not stop bleeding until after the race. Oh yes, and a sprained ankle after 21 hours (when I was still hopeful of more than 240km). Couldn’t run much for the last three hours”.

Chris as a counter in the Great Britain men’s team helped the team finish seventh overall.
