Saturday 20th October – West Yorkshire Cross-Country League @ Wetherby

After a long summer of rain, the first race of the West Yorkshire Cross-Country League at Wetherby was sunny, warm and had hardly any mud – not the traditional conditions for cross-country races in Britain but welcomed by many I’m sure.  Full Results on the West Yorkshire Athletics website.

The senior ladies race was won by Katie Walshaw (Holmfirth) in 20:25, Racheal Bamford finished in 10th 21:57 and Eleanor Shotton 95th in 27:43.

The senior men’s race was won by James Walsh (Leeds City) in 28:36, Matt John over took Ian Fisher on the last lap to finish in eleventh & fourteenth, 30:51 & 30:55, next home was the Honorary Handicapper in 29th, 32:05, followed by Tom Feather, 127th in 36:34, Leon Ricketts 131st 36:52, Richard Smith, 141st 37:41, Peter Campbell 151th 38:23, Hugh Pearson 174th 40:12, Billy Rayner 198th 45:35 & Antonio Cardinale 209th 01:06:51.

Well done team, lets see if we can have even more running at Nunroyd Park and better our tenth team position in the men’s and finish a ladies team too.

  1. There may not have been much mud but there was plenty of cow pats. The car smelt lovely on the way home.
