Sunday 21st October – Withins Skyline – Haworth

Report from Tamara:

OAC had five Juniors and six Seniors out on a lovely sunny day over at Penistone Country Park for the Withins Skyline Fell Race (7.5 miles / 984′).

The Juniors, Suzie Mallinson, Linus and Seth Weatherhead and Matthew and William O’Neill did a good job and, on the whole, enjoyed themselves. That’s about where I stopped enjoying the day!

The senior race was won by Ian Holmes (Bingley) in 42.32. First lady was Jean Brown (Clayton Le Moors) in 57.43.

Good runs from the Otley men, with Liam Dunne 13th in 48.14, Simon Anderson, cracked rib and all, 44th in 53.29, Peter Kettleborough 63rd in 55.32. Chris Stacey 121st in 59.42 and Don Buffham 283rd in 80.28.

I had got it into my head that I ran the race in less than an hour last year – haha, very wishful thinking that was what Renee and Rachael did – so I was dismayed at my slow progress and wobbly ankles.

I finished sixth lady overall in 62.25. Not disastrous but next year I’ll head straight to the Dog and Gun for lunch after the kids have finished.

Race report in the Telegraph & Argus.
