Saturday 16th February – Eccup Handicap

On a perfect day for running there was an excellent turn out of Otley members at 2nd Club Handicap of the year at Eccup (6.1 miles).  With no bias from the handicapper honest, Kath came home a convincing winner, her first win for just over 6 years.

Guest runner from Wetherby, Valerie took second followed by Ursula & Phil.  Antonio must be keen to challenge for Billy’s trophy as he apologised to Nikki for winning the battle for 5th in a exciting sprint finish.

Scott recorded the fastest time of the day, a swift 36:32, even with a lonely first 5 miles or so.  Lets see if we can get a few more of our faster lot out at the next race at Esholt.

Thanks to Jack, Nick & Tom for marking the course, with favourable comments from all.

Phil leads the 2013 Eric Smith Handicap table on 44 points ahead of Ursula 37  pts, David Cattanach 32 pts and Tom Hannah 31pts.

Emma Jones was speaking on BBC radio Leeds some days ago, and I was pleased to hear all the good achievements she has done since starting running and as well her future racing for charity and to join the Otley ac was a good move for her remarkable running .Well done Emma.
