Tuesday 5th March – Runner of the Month for February

alsager5a_2013For lighting up the month of February with their exceptional performances, there are joint Runners of the Month for February being Racheal Bamford and Matt John.

Racheal began the month representing the North of England in the Alsager 5 Miles and recorded a Club Record of 28.55. The following weekend she finished fifth in the final of the women’s 1,500m British Athletics European Indoor Trials & UK Championships at Sheffield and four days later was just one second outside her Club Record at the Armagh International 3km.

For Matt, his Spring marathon training and lots of miles are obviously paying dividends as he demonstrated by winning the very popular Great North West Half Marathon in Blackpool recording a personal best by almost five minutes in 68.53.

Well done Racheal and Matt!

  1. No better winners then you two. Matt is one of the best runner inside West Yorkshire , a powerful athlete that could win other races in the future. Racheal is almost ready for the national field and beyond. Well done indeed you two.

  2. Very well done the both of you but to receive your bottle of wine/chocolates and the plaudits of your fellow members you will need to come down to a training night! You may be surprised at the number of new and capable members

  3. Mick, I’ve eaten the chocolates intended for Racheal already. It was just too much responsibility / temptation.

  4. Well done you 2! On the quiet-didn’t know there was chocs as well, maybe Julian eats them every month and just let it slip he buys them

  5. you are all a Special lot, brilliant ” Black and White” runners, soon be back with you all!

  6. Well deserved winners, well done.

I agree that Julian must eat the chocs every month as I’ve never seen them presented before, looks like we have a secret chocoholic!!
