Thursday 25th April – Fewston Handicap

The fourth Club Handicap Championship event of the year took place around the 3.94 mile perimeter of Fewston Reservoir.

After 28 Otley handicaps, Matt Podd finally won his first, comfortably ahead of Nikki and Ian.  As always Fewston proved to be one of the most popular races in the handicap series with a total of 35 on the start line, including several with sore marathon legs and a few first timers.

The beetroot juice experiment continued on from London, as several Otley guinea pigs sampled some small bottles pre-race courtesy of Mr Pickard.  The jury is still out on it’s effectiveness, if not taste..

Ursula took full advantage of Phil Robinson’s absence to leap to the top of the table on 78 points ahead of Caron 61 and Phil 58, see full handicap table here.

Well done Matt; I just hope you didn’t get carried away with the Leffe – that’s how Gazza started!
Quite pleased with my performance seeing as my last outing was the Ken Dixon.
