Report from Laura Hind:
After a terrible forecast for Sunday, it was a pleasant surprise to wake up and see the sun shining.
I was excited about my first race in an OAC vest and the Wetherby 10k didn’t disappoint!
A field of 1,000 runners, good running conditions and a fantastic OAC turnout made for a great afternoon of racing. Although we’d been warned that it wasn’t a great PB course, us improvers set out with the bit between our teeth to knock a few seconds off previous (and in my case dusty!!) records!
Scott was leading the way for the field right up to 7k and was unlucky to miss out on top spot – still, podium finish of any kind is pretty impressive!!
For us towards the other end, it was happy days all round. Sara, running her first 10k notched up an excellent sub 50 minute time, Gemma also clocked a great first time and Sean managed to smash the hour barrier!! Personally,I’m just glad to see all this hill running paying off – 3.5 min improvement on my last 10k!
Now onto the next race…what was that you said, Billy? The Guy Fawkes 10 is miles, not km? Oh…. ; P
