Sunday 6th October – Bournemouth Marathon
Report from the new treasurer Ian Broadbent
I ran the inaugural Bournemouth marathon today in sweltering weather on the south coast. It was a strange course circling around the town going back on itself a couple of times and taking in both piers. The finish was good with a stretch out to Poole and back. Managed a provisional time of 4 hrs 4 mins and 33 secs, a PB but I was hoping for a sub 4 hours. But seeing the numbers walking in the heat I’m quite happy.
Full results available here that confirms Ian’s time of 4:04:33. The winner was Ebisa Merga Ethiopia in a swift 2:16:41.

Crackin’ stuff Ian, congrats!
Well done on your pb!
Well done mate running in the heat must be worth at least 5 minutes.
Sounds tough so well done – the heat really takes it’s toll! With that performance in those conditions a sub-4 is definitely on the cards for you.
