Sunday 12th January – RunSunday

The Green family starred this week with young Kieran finishing 10th in 28:29 an MJ9 record and Ellora  & Pange finishing 22nd & 23rd respectively in 32:17, a FJ11 record & 32:18.

First across the line was Tom Howard in 20:56.  Full results on RunSunday here.   For Paul Shack’s report.

What a beautifully, finger numbingly chilly Sunday morning and 35 of you brave runners came to our specially designed no shelter meeting spot to set off on a three mile tour of the mud and ice of the Chevin and also set two junior records.

A further group of lunatics decided to come and stand around in the freezing cold with only Debbie Prestwich’s fantastically indulgent Rocky Road as reward.  In addition to the already mentioned guest baker, Debbie Prestwich, our volunteers this week were Andrew Thrippleton (with Olyve), David Gatehouse, Michelle Smith, Peter Murtough and keeping an eye on things was Tulip Lee.  Anna Murtough bought up the tail and Nicola Budding helped distribute the sweeties after completing one lap.

Today, third overall and crossing the line first for the women was Rebecca Langdon who finished in a fittingly (to match the temperature) brisk 24:45 followed home by Denise Johnson in 27:21 and Lisa Smedley in 27:54.  That cold air made it hard going this morning so well done to you.

For the men, Tom Howard breasted the tape in 20:56 with Peter Covey second in 23:29 and our youngest ever podium finisher at seven was Archie Budding in 25:04 (just six seconds off the category record).

Talking of records, the juniors really showed the way today as Kieran and Ellora Green both took their respective category records (MJ9 and FJ11).  Well done the Greens including the support team of Shane who cheered them both on despite being injured.

Great running today from everyone.  Thank you all for showing up and making Run Sunday such fun to be part of.

Stay warm this week and whatever you’re doing have a great time and do it as well as you can.

All the best and Good Running

Good running by you Pange, not bad at all. Well done also to the other club members who took part at this lovely race on the Chevin.
