Saturday 15th February – Eccup Handicap

Conditions for race 2 of the 2014 Eric Smith Handicap series was the 6.1-miles Eccup handicap were relatively OK with the exception of a very wet track round the reservoir compared to the wind and rain of recent days.

Toni had a great run to finish almost a minute clear of Gemma in second and Jeremy running in his first handicap in third.  Unsurprisingly Ian recorded the fastest net time of the day of 33:45.

The leading contenders in the 2014 handicap championship are Gemma Harrington on 48 points ahead of Kath Robertshaw, 43pts and Charlotte Tomlinson 40pts.  What chance of an all female top 3 at the end of the year?  See the full handicap table here.

Congratulation to Toni for winning the race with a brilliant run. Compliments to Gemma for her Championship’s lead ,got it with a solid performance at Eccup course. Also Ian had a good day around the reservoir , it is just a pleasure for me to see him running, passing me at three times more, maybe four, my running speed. Well done everybody who came to race in this windy Saturday .
