Sunday 18th May – Bupa Great Manchester Run

This morning 40,000 sun-soaked runners lined up to race this IAAF Gold Label 10K event in Manchester city centre.

The race was won by 10,000m world record holder and the recent winner of the 2014 Paris Marathon, Kenenisa Bekele who notched 28:23, this was just enough to give him a slender lead over the marathon world record holder and former Kenyan Police officer, Wilson Kipsang (28:28).

The woman’s race was won by Kenyan, Tirunesh Dibaba. Also continuing her fine form that she showed in April at the London Marathon when she finished 3rd. Today she recorded a time of 31:09 to finish ahead of GB athlete Gemma Steel.

for OAC,  Paul Stamp finished in 866th with a chip time of 43:41.
