Thursday 5th June – Abbey Anniversary Fell Race, 5 miles & 1,800ft

Report from Caron Ralph:

I did this one in 2012 and fancied another visit to the picturesque village of Kettlewell to give it another go. Arriving in the car park I was pleased to see David Fox was also taking part.  The race starts in the fields over the bridge from the village and starts with a leg sapping steep climb which includes a scramble through the crag. On reaching the top it’s a fast descent towards Arncliffe, then it’s straight back up, looping back over Little Cote moor, finishing following a rocky track back down towards the bridge.

Full Results are available here, Ted Mason, Wharfedale was first home in 37:56, Kirsty Hall also Wharfedale was first lady in 48:37,  David and I were both happy to finish with a time under the hour, 35th & 38th in 55:55 & 57:48.  Some photos here and some more of the start on the Otley Flickr site here with the club mascot barking his support!.

That was a good day in Kettlewell for you Caron and also for David F. To finish this race under the hour is not bad at all, well done you two.
