Friday 20th – Saturday 21st June – Billy Bland Relay

Leg5_2

Many thanks to Sarah Fuller for getting together and organising everyone, after lots of last minute changes,  a combined team Otley / Keighley and Craven AC.
This challenge is to try and beat Billy Bland’s amazing 42 peak Bob Graham round record of 13 hours and 53 minutes for the ~66 miles & 27,000 ft of ascent circuit of the Lake district, or a bit more realistic 24 hour time.  With the many changes we didn’t quite manage the 24 hour challenge, but that didn’t really matter much as everyone had a great weekend out in the hills in fantastic weather, even those running on the night legs.   See Tamara’s pics of the final leg from Honister back to Keswick here.

And here’s a pic of Caron laughing at the start of Leg 1.

  1. Major effort by Sarah to still get a team of us out there, thank you! Chuffed to have played a little part in it – I feel fortunate too, to have been on the easy leg and not sweltering in the sun or striding out in the dark

  2. This sounds like an amazing challenge & such a beautiful part of the world. Well done on this fantastic achievement ☺️

  3. Wasn’t laughing at the finish……seriously, as always a well organised and productive weekend largely due to Sarah’s logistical skills! Would like to also thank Sarah’s husband Derek for running leg 1 and 5 ( much the same as Graham L last year) and helping me round leg 1! Great to meet Owen, Camille and Lorna from Keighley and Craven too. Well done everyone on each leg-was a pleasure to be part of it! Roll on next one…??
