Tom Potter reports:
Today I ventured down to Rother Valley Country Park, Sheffield to run the Three Lakes Classic after racing this trail race in 2011 (2:11:04) and again in 2013 (1:55:27).
I can not find enough superlatives to sum this race up. It is not my favoured terrain, distance or location but this really is a must run race and ranks amongst my favourite races to date.
It costs £5 to enter, the course is beautiful and well marshalled. Once you have finished the race you are rewarded with as much cake and tea as you can devour. As well as this you receive a finishers goodie bag which includes a commemorative mug!
Inevitably the race proved tough with the sun blazing and so I decided to treat the race with the same approach as that of a long training run. My aim was to race in a controlled manner whilst finishing quicker than I have in previous years.
I finished in 20th position with a time of 1:50:45, the race was won by Gareth Lowe, 1:31:01 (Clowne RR) – Scott Harringtons former club.
The first female was Liz Woods, 28th in 1:53:13 (Totley AC) – NOT THE MIGHTY OTLEY AC!

I would strongly advise you to pencil this race into your 2015 racing diary.. I will be for sure!
