Thursday 10th July – The Liz Fawcett Leathley Handicap

Another sultry evening as it seems to be every year for this hilly 10k handicap.  Setting off last Scott stormed through the field to finish well clear, next over the line was Jeremy, but Chris Brunold’s adjusted result after setting off late was second in the final results and the route devisor Liz Fawcett finished mid pack in 9th,  and ex club president Mick Jeffrey joined the elite list of Otley members who have done 100 Otley handicaps.

The top of the table now read as: Andy Webster 109 points,  Richard Hamer, Sean O’ Halloran and Charlotte Tomlinson 106, Dominic Egan and Nicola Lee 103. See the full table here.

Thanks to John Dade, Sara Elliott & Caron for helping out on the night.  August’s race is the 4 mile route from the New Inn at Eccup on Thurs. 14th Aug.

Well done to everyone who ventured out on a very warm evening. I enjoyed this race in a sadistic way and gave it everything I had. I tried to hold on to everyone that passed me, this made me not give up and try harder. Really pleased to be joint second in the overall standings, Nerver been that high up a the table before, I may get a nose bleed. However, only really racing myself and I am chuffed to bits to run the race last night 4.5mins quicker than last year.

Sounds a great run & well done to all who turned out to strut their stuff! Hope to be back with you later in the year once my pesky knee injury is sorted – not that I’ll be able to keep up with you lot!

  3. #3 by Richard Hamer on July 12, 2014 - 10:43 am

Well done Mick for joining the OAC 100 Club. Glutton for punishment?!

Congratulation to Scott H. for the victory, it is always nice to win . Sean is awesome in his running , he gets better by the day, only two seconds from the expert and veteran runner David C. Also Charlotte T. on her way to the finish line had an impressive stride that is significant of a good form. Sad to hear that the dear Malcom C. has got back injury, wishing him a speedy come back. To Ursula as well , all the best for her bad knee, and hoping to see her back soon racing.
