Wednesday 16th July – Thorner Fox Trail Race

Report from Andy Webster for the Thorner Fox Trail Race 16th July 6.4 miles

Another fine sunny evening apart from a brief heavy shower lead to an enjoyable evening run. The obligatory shredding of the legs from running through corn fields just added to the fun. Steve Robinson and Ruth Muir (unattached and finished second female) ran with me and seemed to trust my map reading skills and luckily the navigation was straightforward. However we were delayed by a couple of minutes by a skittish horse but we finished well up the field of 76 runners. Oliver Smith unattached finished in 44:30. Steve and I finished in 54:14 I was given 13th position and Steve 14th. David Cattanach of Otley finished 62 in 1:17:52.

One more race left in the series.

  1. I really enjoyed this low key race, will definitely try to do the next one in August. Not the easiest skill trying to run and read directions at the same time (fell over within a mile of the start on rough ground).
Andy W seems to have the knack though so was glad to run together.

  2. You are better then me David, not only you run but at the same moment you can use a map to follow the right direction , I can not do it . Also Steve R. and Andy W. they had a good day running in this trail race.
