Sunday 14th September – Spen Greenway 10k

Report from Mark Hall:

I did the Spen 10 kms race yesterday. The race is run on a former railway line (now tarmac). It is 5k out turn around a marshal and 5k back, not too exciting. The course is not flat as it drags up for the first half and down for the 2nd half. I ran the entire race on my own as I did not start fast enough to get in the front group. The conditions were excellent unlike my time!  6th place, 1st V50, 35.19

No other OAC runners.   Winner: David Turnbull. Holmfirth. 33.41 (I think), full results to follow on John Schofield’s race results here.

You were only 1:38 from the winner David , and if you consider that the course was not flat at all , and you were stranded on your own for the entire race , I would say that not only the weather condition were excellent ,but also your time a this Spen 10k was excellent too, compliments for your 1st v50 is good indeed.Well done Mark.

Thank you Shane for your nice comments , yes I try to be positive about running because it makes wonder for any runner’s moral . But about Mark , there is no need for optimism , his running is competitive from the first mile to the finish line , he is a power machine who performs at high level all year long, I just do not know how he does it , he is one of the few runners who reminds me of the talented Ian Fisher on racing at his best.
