Sunday 2nd November – West Yorks. Cross Country League

Report from the Hon. Handicapper:

The second race of the season was held at West Park, just north of the Beckett Park track.  There was a bit more mud than the first race at Thornes park, but the going for most of the course was fast and dry.  As at Thornes park Otley had two in the top ten, with Ian Fisher 5th, 27:58 and Frank Beresford 10th, 28:33.  For the first 2 laps I battled it out with Liam, with Liam running strongly in the last lap he pulled clear finishing 22nd, 29:36 to my 25th, 29:51.  Running his first cross country in an Otley vest Robin Outtersides was next in 61st, 31:23.  Fresh from a holiday in the Lakes Graham Lake finished 98th, 33:07 and 6th counter that gave Otley a brilliant 4th place finish in the team race.  Stephen Boddy, also running his first cross country in an Otley vest finished 168th, 39:10 and Antonio Cardinale completed the Otley contingent in 188th, 55:29.

I think 4th best club in West Yorkshire sounds pretty good. Incredible level these races.

Brilliant result if you ask me as I know the calibre of runners that attend this are the best of the best, which must include you lot. Well done.

Good efforts in what must be a tough and competitive event and shows strength in depth yet again. Even tempted to try grass myself…no not that kind!!

Thank you Shane for your kind comment, I am getting slower and slower as the years go by, but I never walk , also when i did the Ilkley Incline in September I never stopped running.
