Sunday 28th December – Jolly Holly Jog

Report from Howard:

Just time to have the kit cleaned and a recovery turbo session and straight back into Jolly Holly Jog on Sunday. Thighs a bit stiff but soon loosened up and another good day of sun, cool but a bit icy in parts. Race won by Mike Burrett of Leeds City in 34.12, closely followed in 2nd by Jamil in 34.44. First lady (ies) Sharon Barlow and Tori Green of Ripon Runners in 23rd/24th joined at the hip in 40.09.9 (both!) 704 finishers including two DQ’d. I wonder why?

Worth the slog as I made first o/60 in what was  rather random vets categories. M and F30 (what ..?) No mid decade 5’s and ending at M and F60, making it tough for both Kath and Jack…… but I was alright..er Jack!

Rest of the Otley crew below and not a walk in the park:

2nd Jamil Parapia 34:44,  75th Howard Jeffrey 44:31,  219th Andrew Ackroyd 52:00,  221st Jackie Ackroyd 52:07,  280th Ursula McGouran 54:00,  310th Jack Robertshaw 54:57,  593rd Kathleen Robertshaw 1:06:09, 624th Gloria Jackson 1:09:46.   Full results here.

Good running everyone; and especially Howard – you were looking pretty strong when I saw you at the Chevin Chase; in fact, you were one of the only Otley people to go past me with a smile on your face. Time for a well earned rest Howard?

Awesome race by Jamil with 34:44 not far from victory, indeed well done . It is good to see back Ursula M. in racing again with a good 54:29. Howard J. is a powerhouse , his 44.33 is excellent. And Jack and Kath Robertshow did well in this 10k . Well done to everyone.
