Sunday 22nd February – Great North West Half Marathon

Frank_GNW_HalfReport from Frank Beresford: The Great North West Half Marathon takes place in the inspiring town of Blackpool and takes the runner along the sea front.
After not been able to get a place for Snake Lane 10 mile race, I decided to give the Great North West half marathon a go. The course was flat, however the weather was horrible. By about the 7th mile I was not running as fast as possible to get a fast time, but running fast to finish and get warm. I ended the race shivering which is a first! I was happy to finish 3rd in a slow time of about 1 hour 16 min ( The winner finished with a time of about 1 hour 13 min and has 68 minute PB). I was the only Black and White runner. Training for London Marathon continues….

I can lend you a coat and thermals if you like Frank. Well done on a foul day, no better on Ilkley moor.

Looks well nasty. Poor old Blackpool never looks its best out of season. That’s why they have the illuminations.

I would say well done indeed Frank , with such a weather to finish 3rd with 1 hour and 16 minutes is a great performance.

Good time and result Frank. Blackpool is tough when the weather is bad. I had a number but took one look at the forecast and bottled out (a first!). Was spotted on my alternate training run.
