Sunday 29th March – Wakefield 10k & Wetherby Parkrun

Sunday 29th March – Wakefield 10k & Wetherby Parkrun

Report from Howard Jeffrey: I had a busy weekend following a solid week of training including speed and hill-work on Friday. On Saturday morning I thought I would cycle up to Wetherby (it’s almost all bespoke cycle path from where I live) and gently do their second Park-run having missed the inaugural one because of the Clumber Park duathlon and then cycle back. The idea being to get used to the change of disciplines for the Euro long distance duathlon…

Sunday 29th March – Blubberhouses 25

Sunday 29th March – Blubberhouses 25

Report from the President Matt Podd: What a fine day for a visit to Rocking Hall, Beamsley Beacon and Round Hill, in the company of a load of middle aged pleasure seekers. Some rain, some wind, and a lot of mud. The Round Hill bogs were at their best. Not sure how people got on, but I saw Liam (joint 1st with Andrew Dobby) 3:21, at the start charging off, and there was a large Otley women’s team, Laura M, 5:18,…

Sunday March 22nd: Wilmslow half

Sunday March 22nd: Wilmslow half

Jamil goes long…no stopping that man! Having gained a reputation as a specialist at the shorter distances, I decided to have a go at another half marathon, my first since Ackworth in 2007. Was slightly apprehensive about the step up in distance but I was pleased to knock 29 secs of my personal best finishing 17th in 70:26. The Wilmslow Half Marathon is a great race with a quality field and great support from the locals. The race winner was…

Sunday March 22nd: Heptonstall fell race

Sunday March 22nd: Heptonstall fell race

report from Shane I was the only Black & White at this 15 mile route around Calder Valley, taking in Hardcastle Crags, Wadsworth Moor, & Midgeholes, which apparently started life as a dung heap. Following a warm welcome from the vicar of the village, a record 220-strong field set off in warm and sunny conditions, with no breeze, and more than a few returned with sunburn. It was a rollercoaster of a route, with a mix of open access moorland,…

Sunday 22nd March: East Hull 20

Sunday 22nd March: East Hull 20

Report from Liam: Tom, Richard and myself traveled over to Hull bright and early this morning for the fairly flat Hull 20 miler. It was a London Marathon warm-up race for Tom and myself and Richard’s tester before his Manchester marathon. Tom and I do a lot of training together and it has been a recent discussion between us as to whether we should use this event as a marathon pace training or go full out for our best result…

Sunday March 22nd: Trimpell 20

Sunday March 22nd: Trimpell 20

From Ian Broadbent: Getting a Sunday off during lambing to do a run is hard, telling the father in law I was off running and had to pay for the pleasure even harder. Anyway I Ventured over to Gods other own county today to do the Trimpell 20, it’s a 99% traffic free route which winds around Lancaster then up the old railway track to Caton. It was a Warmish sunny day, I’d been hoping for about 2.45 but slipped…
