Saturday 16th May -Otley Show

Only three OAC people took part in this premier event, which is now in its 26th year, although there were several spectators from the club.

Even though it was a sunny day, conditions were hard due a strong westerly wind which saw several OAC folk take shelter in one of the many beer tents.

Club secretary John Dade took the first spot in the lemon curd category using a Nigel Slater recipe. A winner in a previous year with his lemon drizzle cake, Billy had to leave empty-handed this time around as did Laura Hind – better luck next year!

Colin Best also made an appearance demonstrating his drystone walling skills, although few people from the club recognised him without his gloves on.

Congratulations John. Having tasted Laura’s cake I think she was robbed.

Just so I can gloat a bit more. It wasn’t male only – I won the open category.

Nice one John! I thought you still needed gloves for dry stone walling though!
