Saturday 27th June – Eldwick Fell Race

Saturday 27th June – Eldwick Fell Race

Report from Liam Dunne: On Sat afternoon I headed  over to local Eldwick near Bingley (3 Miles/550 ft) for my third fell race in as many weeks, for the bargain £2.50 entry fee gala fell race. It was a 3 o’clock start and with the sun out it looked like it was going to be a warm and fairly sweaty affair.

Before the start of the race I bumped into a few OAC runners which included  Ed Davies, Jeremy Stewart and Antonio. It was a small field of runners and it looked like we had a chance to pick up team prize. The race started on the road outside the gala field and descended for about half a mile before we went off-road and started the gradual climb of some local hill. After the turn around at the top we descended the same climb and then there was a long gradual climb on the tarmac before we jumped a wall to head back to the gala field.

I knew there wouldn’t be a lot of distance between Ed, Jeremy and myself and soon after the start it was Ed who had the quicker downhill legs, which left me chasing Jeremy. I caught him on the climb but he soon passed me again and with Ed in the distance we kept this order all the way to the finish for a 5th 6th and 7th position finish for OAC. Antonio put in a big effort, he wasn’t too far behind and finished strong up the final hill.
I picked up the first MV40 prize and  as predicted we also won the team prize. The winner of the race was Matt Lockyer of P&B. Full results available soon on:

  1. A good report indeed Liam , just the mirror of the afternoon race . Compliments as well for the prize in the V40 and team prize too, well deserved , not bad at all your day in Eldwick. Also Jeremy S. had a strong performance in this local fell race with a good 6th position on the finish line . Ed D. ran well too.
