Sunday 12th July – Kilburn 7

Report from Julian Mawson:

I think of this race as one of the classic scenic kilburn2015runs in North Yorkshire, up there with Bishop Wilton Half, Burn Valley Half and Burnsall 10 Miles amongst others.

Good to see Don Buffham beforehand who had noticed the signs for the race on his way back from the coast and nipped in for an unexpected race. I also met Liz supporting husband Chris Wordsworth at one of their now local races.

In truth, the race is nearer 7.25 miles and the route take in the beautiful vistas of Coxwold, Byland Abbey and Oldstead. I was very happy to take part for the fourth time since 2005 and reminisce along the way.

The race was won by Andrew Pearson (New Marske) in 41.01 and Olivia Mulligan (Thirsk & Sowerby) 24th in 47.52.

I finished seventh (42.31) and Don Buffham 210th (74.18).  Full results here.

  1. To finish seventh at the Kilburn 7 is fast running indeed Julian and 42:31 is a good result , and I think soon you will be in good shape for the Burnsall 10 Miles that you already ran several times with excellent performances . Also my dear friend Don B. had a strong ran in this race that has got an unusual miles distance ,74:18 is good enough for a trip up north. Well done you two.
