Sunday 16th August – Escrick 10k

Report from Howard Jeffrey:

I like to do the Escrick 10k each year as it is fairly local to me and there are not too many races mid August. The race is well supported by clubs from East Yorkshire, I guess they like it flat! It is quite a popular race and is flat but a bit convoluted through woods and on trails. Thankfully they were dry in the main. There was talk of it being slightly long and the winning time was 34.15 by Kristoff Boynton of York Acorn. 1st lady Charlotte Ward of Hull City AC in 17th place in 38.14. I made heavy weather in 89 th place in 44.24, it got quite warm. Ian Broadbent not far behind in 45.58 111th. 502 finishers. Full results.

Report from Ian Broadbent: I ran the Escrick 10k on Sunday 16 August, it starts at St. Margaret’s girls’ school and goes out on a pretty flat traffic free trail/track route. There were about 500 runners and I managed 111 with a new PB of 45:58. The race was won by Christoff Boynton in 34:15 from York Acorn running club. It’s a well organised race with plenty of facilities, barbecue and well marshalled. Anyone fancying it next year its about 5 miles south of the York designer outlet.

  1. 44:28 is still good Howard and it might be as well a bit longer course then 10k and maybe it means as well that your body needs a rest ,a recharge of few weeks , because you can not stay in top form all year round . Also Ian B. had a good ran with 45:58 . Well done you two.
