Sunday 13th September – Yorkshireman
Report from John Dade:

Congratulations to all the competitors in the Yorkshireman half and full marathons at Haworth on Sunday. The previous day’s rain added to the mud but as ever a spectacular tough route in rugged country. There were some great runs from Otley AC. Edward Davies was 2nd in the marathon – fantastic effort, one day he’s got to win this one. In the half marathon (14.8 miles) Laura Clark was 46th, and 4th lady, Stephen Boddy 102nd, I was 127th, and poor Sara Richard, had a frustrating day coming in at 194th. On the start line she realised she didn’t have a timing chip – and ran back to registration as we all headed off.
Personally it was my slowest run in this event – not enough stamina, I need to do more long runs – and to think I had originally entered the marathon!
Results – Marathon 1st Kevin Doyle (Kimborough Striders) 3:30:28, 2nd Edward Davies (Otley) 3:31:22 – 134 finishers plus 27 pairs (Total – 188)
Half Marathon – 1st Joe Baxter (P&B) 1:37:22, 7th (1st lady) Tanya Seager (Stainland) 1:48:40, 46th Laura Clark 2:08:26, 102nd Stephen Boddy 2:27:44, 127th John Dade 2:35:48, 194th Sara Richard 3:05:22. 249 finishers

I really struggled. Those first few miles, which were seemingly all uphill, drained my legs and I had to drag myself home. Such a beautiful route though, I will definitely try and do this every year. I was a bit delirious at the end and just walked straight to my car without collecting my t-shirt and medal which was a bit disappointing.
That’s an outstanding run from Ed Davies. 8 minute miles on that terrain for 26miles is class. Chapeau.
