Sunday 25th October – Holmfirth 15

Scott Harrington 3rd 1:27.04 (1st V35),  Mark Hall 6th 1:36:43 (1st V55),  Christian Hosker 30th (1:54:22).  Full results

Starters 77!

In the past this race was very popular and always attracted a good entry from OAC. However, the race has not run for 3 years and has certainly suffered for it with a very small field today.

The entry fee of £17 maybe put a few runners off. Also, the prizes will not be attracting runners to sign up. Scott won a bottle of wine and I got a pair of gloves! Of course none of us run for prizes but I think their are limits.

Scott made an excellent return to competition after injury with 3rd position recording a good time and also won the Yorkshire vets V35 title. Mark was 6th, 1st V55 and a Yorkshire vet title.

Christian Hosker had an excellent run and finished in a good position.

I think OAC would have won the team prize but there wasn’t one!

  1. I agree with you Mark 17 pounds is way too much, and you are right there when you say that this race was a popular one with Otley AC. when I ran this race in 2004 also Ian Fisher was there , with Julian and Neil C. and Hannah that now she run with Wetherby and others as well. Congratulations to you and Scott H. for winning the Yorkshire titles with excellent performances ,with Scott going on the podium as well . Also Christian H. ran well.

  2. It is a pity that such a long established event was not better supported but as stated the entry fee perhaps made people hesitate.
I think the 15 miles also dictated that my grammar, like my performance was below par.

I should of course have said “there are limits” and not “their are limits”. (Schoolboy error)
