Saturday 5th March – Wellington Handicap

The last time we did this handicap in October 2007,  but after Jack’s suggestion we thought it was time to resurrect it, thankfully the post race comments were pretty much all positive for the hilly 3 lap route.  With a start & finish right next to the pub how could you go wrong!

After a day of snow, sleet & rain yesterday, the weather proved to be pretty good, if like last week a bit on the chilly side.  Charlotte just held off Kirsty Pomfrett for first, both well clear of Stephen in third, Liam Dunne recorded the fastest time of the day & won the prize for most consistent lap times.

Tom Pomfrett retains his position at the top of the handicap table on 49 points ahead of John Armitstead 43, Nicola Lee and Phil Robinson both on 38. See the full table here.

Lots of points on offer for the next one at the popular Fewston Thurs. 21 April.

Saturday 5th March: Bradford Park Run

Report from Billy from the Bradford Park Run.
Myself, Sean O’Halloran & Sara Elliott went to Lister Park with Nicola Gill, Hebe Dolby, Rachael Allen and Lynne Lister (from the beginners group) for the Park Run on Saturday morning.

Meeting at the gates of the park there was a brief shower but this soon cleared and conditions were perfect for running.

As Sara was suffering from a chest infection she just ran with Lynne to encourage her on her first Park Run.The race was won by Sam Clegg (unattached – MV30) in 17:22 and the first lady was Kirsty Allen (Baildon Runners – FV40).I was first home for Otley AC in 94th place in a time of 25:11 (a new Park Run PB) followed by Sean (170th in 28:32), Nicola Gill (224th 30:57), Hebe Dolby (JF11-14 & 225th in 31:01), Rachael Allen (260th in 32:30) and Lynne Lister (284th in 33:44).

Congratulations to the beginners completing their first Park Runs.
The next Couch to 5k plan starts Tuesday 8th March.
Afterwards in was a quick dash to Darley to make in just in time for the club handicap!

Lots of good performances last month, honourable mentions to all those who endured the Rombalds Stride & Scott for his recent 20 miler.

This month’s awards go to Gilly Wight for her epic Otley to Cambridge run followed by the Cambridge Half marathon race and Mark Hall for his V55 club record at Snake Lane 10, well done both
