Sunday 3rd April – European Indoor Masters Atheltics Championships, Ancona Italy
Report from Caroline Marler:
I had my first race at an International Masters Championships since winning the W60 400m and 800m in the Outdoor Championships in Izmir, Turkey in 2014. Over a year of injuries and illnesses had reduced training but as I had entered a new age group – W65 it seemed worth having a go at competition again.
I was delighted to win the 400m in 73.57, setting a new British and European record! 2nd was Ros Tabor (GB) in 76.15 – she had won the 800m, 1500m and 3000m over the week’s championship. 3rd was Veronika Scharbatke (Germany) in 81.13.
Next big goal is the Outdoor World Championships in Perth, Australia in October where it would be good to try to break the Outdoor European record of 72.45 and win a medal. If I can stay uninjured and build up the training I will also compete in the 800m there and try to replicate my 1st in the World Masters in Brazil in 2013.

Congratulations Caroline. Your times and performances are outstanding. I think superlatives are too often used in comments but in your case they are certainly deserved.
