I did this race last year and it is a very low key but really pleasant mainly off road and undulating run through what I guess are old quarry and mine workings now a country park. There was a marathon taking place at the same time, they just went round twice. The sun was out and it was quite warm although in the early part of the race we went through cool shady woods which were a real pleasure to be in. There were quite a few muddy patches along the route which were the remnants of recent very wet weather. I set off at a steady pace and held it all the way round without pushing too hard. I managed to finish within a couple of minutes of last years’ time in 1.37.58. That put me in seventh position behind the winner Leon Winder of Idle AC in 1.31.47 . First lady was Laura Quirk in 1.44.09. 82 finished and a further 63 did the marathon. Enough said.

  1. Your report made me laugh Howard , it is funny. Your performance at Wakefield it is a strong one because the course was not flat at all and muddy too , 1:37 it is a lovely result and whats more the seventh position is awesome and well deserved .
