Sunday 7th August: Blackpool Airshow 10k and Northern Veterans 10k championship

Report from Mark Hall:

I headed for Blackpool for the Northern veterans 10k championship race. The event was run along the upper and lower promenades, this would normally ensure a fast time. However, the 3 miles slog along the lower promenade was run into a massive headwind that slowed everyone considerably and even Andy Jones, (British team runner) only just got under 33 mins! I managed to win my Championship so the long drive was worth it even if the time was slow due to the conditions. I saw Billy at the start but not after so not sure if he was happy with his run.

Winner: Andy Jones, Doha Bay Running Club 32.49. Mark Hall, 36.20, 6th (1st V55), Andrew Rayner, 54.50, 150th

Congratulations to Mark H. for winning the 10k championship in Blackpool . His 36.20 has been achieved with a strong wind that makes all the difference in racing and I agree that the trip was worth it because it gave you a Championship . Also Billy R. ran in 54.50 that considering the weather condition it is a good result . Well done to Mark and to Billy as well .

Well run by Billy considering the late night, alcohol fuelled pre race prep the night before. You’re a legend! Another consistent win for Mark, nice one.
