Sunday 7th August – Round Hill Fell Race

Wharfedaler, Lee Athersmith repeated his win from last year in a very similar time.  First lady was Nik Tarrega from Knavesmire Harriers finishing 30th.  Reports back said the bogs weren’t too bad this time, but that no doubt depends on who you speak too…, however a strong wind probably wasn’t conducive to fast times.

There was the odd sight on the climb to Round Hill, as an overly ambitious off road driver in their Mitsubishi 4 x 4 had got stuck in the bog, at least it took the attention of the record number of finishers, 151, away from slog through the bogs!

Liam was first home for Otley in fourth and first V40 and much quicker than last year.  A big thanks to all those who helped out on the day, all the checkpoint marshals, route markers, sweepers, car parking attendants, David Fox and Colin Best for lots of things..

  1. Well done to Andy and all the marshals for keeping things smooth today. I say it every year but this is one of my favourite races as it has nice rolling hills and relentless running without any respite, plus a bargain at a fiver! I noticed we had a local celebrity running also! Anyone spot her?

  2. Well done to everyone who organised and ran, was fun marshalling out on the moors cheering the black and whites through!

  3. Thanks to Andrew and all the elves. Well done to all the bog trotters – sorry I couldn’t be there

  4. I agree with Liam D. about the Round Hill Fell Race because is one of my favourite as well , I just love this race . Kind of you Howard , and this year, although I was still the last one to the finish line , I enjoyed the day because I had the company of a runner from Keighley and as well with the joining of the sweeper the nice Hannah L. and whats more a great water station with Bob P. and Emma , it was lovely to see them and they gave to me a boost to carry on . Phil R. had a super ran over the Middleton Moors in 1.33 it is a powerful result. Well done to everyone.
