Tuesday 16th August – The Liz Fawcett Leathley Handicap

Leathley HandicapSetting off first David maintained his lead all the way to the finish. Ian Broadbent was just over 40 seconds behind in second and a similar time ahead of the Scott who recorded the fastest time of the night, just 25 seconds off Ian’s course record.  It was good to see a World Champion supporting her mother.

The 19 points for winning moved David to the top of the Eric Smith handicap table on 89, one points ahead of Tom Pomfrett, and Ian Broadbent in third 77.  The 9th race of the year is the 3000m track handicap on the 8th September. See full 2016 Eric Smith Handicap table here.

  1. Thanks for organising Andrew, that was a tough one! I’ve clearly got some training to do 🙂

Well done to everyone who ran.

  2. Lovely evening and course, but the ‘relaxing’ summer hasn’t been kind to me!
Even the sight of the World Champs jersey couldn’t inspire my legs.

  3. What a shame that I missed the lovely Elizabeth . Congratulations to the experienced senior member David C. for winning the Liz F. race in 58.27 it is a good result in this undulating and demanding course , also Carol A. ran strongly in 58.33 on a beautiful night in Leathley . Scott H. had a super fast 10k in 33.58 it is a powerful performance on this route . Well done to everyone .
