Sunday 30th October: Bradford 5K

Report from Stephen Boddy:

I entered the Bradford 5k as I thought it was well placed a week before the Abbey Dash and I like supporting Bradford races. Robin entered the Half Marathon which I thought would work well as he wouldn’t have too long to wait around for me for once. The race was well timed with the clocks going back which meant I got an extra hour in bed which meant my youngest was up from bloody 5am so I was well awake by race time.

I was confident of beating the 21:01 which I’d achieved at Harrogate Park Run a couple of weeks ago so I was expecting a PB.

We hit a pretty long hilly drag in the first mile which made me less confident but the undulating course actually worked out well for me as I made up good time on the long steady descent. I got round in an agonising 20:01 which, if I’m really honest, irritated the hell out of me for the next few hours. I kept thinking about where I could have dragged a couple of seconds from. On reflection, I’m really chuffed with a big PB and I still have an obvious target to aim for.

  1. Onwards and upwards Stephen; well done on a less than ideal circuit…

Will look out for you and any other black and whites at The Abbey Dash this Sunday.
