Sunday 27th November – Barnsley 10k

Race Report From the Record Breaker Mark Hall

Winner: Joe Sweetnam-Powell. Sheffield RC. 33.15

Mark Hall. 35.32, 12th, 1st V55.

Lots of hills in this event, It’s definitely not a PB race! I was pleased to only be 40 seconds slower than Leeds AD and a minute faster than last year in this event. No other OAC runners.

Further Update from Mr Andy Webster

Mark did not look far enough down the results!

I ran The Barnsley 10k for the third time. My first experience was in 2004, when running for Barnsley Harriers I finished in just over 41 minutes. This year I was looking to beat last years time of 47 minutes. It is an undulating course with very little flat. The two hardest miles at the end.
The weather conditions were perfect cool and sunny with little wind.  I got in a reasonable position near the front as the start is uphill and quite narrow. Kept a pretty even pace until mile 4 when the hills started, I did manage to keep going though and felt really strong coming into the last mile. Just failed to dip under 45 minutes finishing in 45:01. But pretty please considering the course profile.

  1. Sorry Andy did not see any OAC vests maybe you were giving the orange of the Harriers an airing! Well done on your race and pleased it is not just me who thinks it’s a tough circuit.
