Sunday 4th December – Race 4 West Yorks. XC League Keighley

Report from the Hon. Handicapper:

There was a select group representing Otley AC at the final race of this year’s West Yorkshire Cross Country league at a challenging course next to Cliffe Castle.  After last year’s mudfest, this year it was a much drier affair, with underfoot conditions on the soft side and only a little bit of mud.

Caron had a solid run to finish 59th, 27:00 in the senior women’s race won by Katie Walshaw, Holmfirth in 20:19.  I was reasonably happy with 69th, 31:11 in the men’s race.  Highlight of the day was the spirit shown by a couple of 65+ year olds in Antonio’s sprint to the line with his rival from Denbydale Striders’, Peter Andrews.

Dan Garbutt, Skyrac and Tom Adams, Ilkley battled it out up front, with the Skyrac man getting the win by 5 seconds in 25:36.  See full results here.

Well done all! I was lacking motivation for some reason….possibly beer related.

One win in a weekend is good enough Tom! But think how much beer you’d drink if you beat Tom A!

On almost dry footpaths Caron R. had a fantastic run her 27.00 it is really fast and Andrew R. after few week of not activity due to chest infection had a brilliant ran considering as well that he did not run for a while , his 31.11 is a good result for getting back in shape.
