Wednesday 25th Oct 2017 – Even Splits 5k

Report from Tony Walker

Had another blast of the 3 laps of the Brownlee centre. Calm and warmish (for the time of year) meant that good times were possible. Haven’t raced for a few weeks so was unsure of form but was hopeful of getting a few seconds under 20 mins. Got stuck in and had a bit of a sprint finish – it’s all relative! Was very pleasantly surprised at seeing the clock tick towards 19 mins 20 secs and actually had a chip time of 19.16. Wowzer.

Incredibly though I was still 3rd V55. Plenty of improvement possible!

Feeling very privileged at the moment of being able to run relatively pain free – albeit being selective of regularity, distance and terrain. I know it won’t last which is why it’s a joy! Live in the moment as they say…

  1. In the past we used to do the cross country at the same place . Compliments for the 3rd place , achieved with a solid run and crossing the line in 19.20 , for 5k it is a good result . Well done to Tony W.

  2. Well done Tony big improvement from the last ES5k. Think the quality runner you were is showing now, sure you can go a lot quicker still.

  3. Thanks Antonio and Sarah. I notice you’ve been slicing a few seconds of your time Sara…great stuff.
