Saturday 10th March – Esholt Handicap

Saturday 10th March – Esholt Handicap

Race 3 of the Eric Smith Handicap trophy was a wet one, if not in the air most certainly underfoot.  Fortunately the heavy mid morning rain abated just in time flour markings to stay long enough for everyone to find there way.   That is apart from a one or two missing the short cut up to the long finishing straight adding 100 or so metres.  Phil chased down Don and Sara Richard right from the start, eventually taking the win by just over 30 seconds from Don.  Treasurer Ian Broadbent had a strong finish but just failed to catch Don to finish third.

A 6th place finish by Bob (44pts) took him into a one point lead over Laura, (43) at the top of the table and Don, (37) moved up to third.  See the full table here.

With the lighter nights here by the end of April, the handicaps now move to club nights for the summer.  Race 4 is the Fewston Handicap, Tuesday 24th April,  fiirst off at 7:15pm.

  1. Thanks to the RHH for another fun event. I really enjoyed getting some flat running in, so much so that I added a bit on at the end, oops.

  2. Congratulations to Phil R. for the victory in Esholt with the fabulous time of 44.29 . Sara R. had a good morning too , at the moment she is in great form , her 47.28 is a super time , also Ursula M. is running really well , crossing the finishing line in a lovely 46.23 . It is so good to have Ian Fisher back with us at the Eric S. Championships , Ian gives lustre to our club races . Well done all .
