Wednesday 18th July: Wallington 10K

Report from Colin Best:

When I am in Northumberland I usually look out for any suitable races. I found this 10k road race from Wallington Hall, a national trust property, near Morpeth. The course was described as hilly so thought this would suit me. The start was a fifteen minute walk uphill from the finish, to the village of Cambo. That insured a downhill start and finish. Fortunately there was only one hill. Unfortunately it started just after the 3km mark and finished just after the 8km mark. Just a bit longer and more unforgiving than I was expecting.

Still I enjoyed the race on a very pleasant evening for running. At the end of the race they were giving away surplus tee shirts from previous races so was glad I hadn’t forked out £10 for the actual race shirt. Now proud owner of the Bamburgh 10k and Vindolanda 10k shirts. Resisted the marathon ones.

  1. If you think that the Wallington 10k has got half of his course up hill your 53.15 is fabulous and whats more you have got the Bamburgh 10k and Vindolanda 10k tee shirts free , not bad at all for the fell runner Colin Best.
