Brighouse Festival of Running 22nd July 2018

Report from Tony Walker

The antithesis of the general reports on lovely hills/hours of endurance/great personal risk…This was possibly the dullest course ever!! 3 laps of which one lap was a straight road and then back again. 3 times. And it was flat aside from a marginal and I mean marginal rise towards the halfway point of the lap.

It started in Sainsbury Car park!

I love it!

No distractions head down focus on your pace.

Great organisation with split lap times.

Any my 3 lap splits tell the story of going a bit slower each lap but staying relatively strong and maintaining my position throughout. And I was 1st over 55 in 41mins 38 secs. Whey hey.

Winners were Sarah Cumber/Halifax 38.22 and Matthew Hill/Wakefield in 34.14

Its not pretty!

  1. To focus on your pace on 3 very dull laps is really difficult and to cross the finishing line in 41.38 for this 10k is an extraordinary achievement . Compliments to Tony Walker to finish 1st in the Vet category , well done to him indeed .
